The Rev. Douglas T. King serves The Brick Presbyterian Church as the senior associate pastor for mission and pastoral care. King grew up on the North Shore of Long Island in East Setauket. He studied philosophy at Stony Brook University and wrote for several student publications. Following his graduation from college, he spent a year in mission work with political refugees from Central America in Tijuana, Mexico and San Diego, Calif. King attended Princeton Theological Seminary from 1990 through 1993. During his time at Princeton, he had the opportunity to serve congregations in Trenton, N.J. and Brooklyn, N.Y. Following seminary, King served as the outreach intern for Myers Park Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, N.C.

In 1994, King accepted a call to be an associate pastor at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Buffalo, N.Y. During his tenure at Westminster, he met Marta Rummenie, a member of the Westminster staff who worked with children and youth. They were married in the spring of 2001 with more than 500 church members in attendance. Doug is the cook of the family, and Marta is ever-ready with the tool belt.
