Confirmation Class
	What do I believe? Who is God? How can I make a difference in the world? If I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life, would I rather eat pizza or ice cream? If you are an eighth grade student who would like to figure out answers to any of these questions, Confirmation is for you. Confirmation is a year-long opportunity to spend time with other students and adults who care about you, to discuss the Christian faith, and to get more involved in The Brick Church. At the end of the year, you may choose to join The Brick Church as an active member. Many students have said that Confirmation Class was one of the most important milestones in their spiritual journey. If you are interested in participating in the 2012-2013 Confirmation Class, please complete and submit a registration form. 	What will Confirmation class be like?
	Students meet with a Confirmation Sponsor Each class begins with an informal lunch and introductory questions or a warm-up activity (in the past, we built a Styrofoam church, made clay creatures, threw a ball of string all over the room, and listened to music together, among other activities.) Then a pastor or an elder leads a discussion about an important idea of the Christian faith. We also meet in small groups, so you build connections with your friends and the adult volunteers as you learn the material. The adult volunteers are called Confirmation Sponsors, and they are with us in class each week, helping with small group times and listening to you.

	What will be required?
	Confirmands enjoy pizza during class Confirmation class is a commitment. As a Confirmation student, you will be required to do the following: Attend scheduled Confirmation classes on Sundays in the Carnegie Room from 12:30-2:30 p.m. (or 3-5 p.m. on specified nights, See full 2012-13 schedule below). If you miss a class, you must complete make-up work. Attend 11 a.m. Sunday worship services at The Brick Church whenever we have Confirmation class. Complete weekly Confirmation class assignments. These consist of short Bible readings and questions for you to consider. Participate in the special events that are part of Confirmation. Participate in at least two Friday Night Dinner Program sessions.   Write and turn in a statement on faith and membership in the spring. Guidelines will be provided to help you with this assignment.

	2012-2013 Classes and Events
	Class Dates: Confirmation Class will be held from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the Carnegie Room on the following dates.   2012 September 30 October 14*, 21 and 28 November 4, 11*, 18   2013 January 13*, 27 February 3, 10*, 24 March 3, 10* April 7, 14*, 21 * means that we will meet from 3-5pm!   Confirmation will take place on Sunday,  May 5, 2013 Other required Confirmation events include: 2013 Saturday, March 2, 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.:  Mission Outreach Day of Discipleship Wednesday, April 17, 6:30 p.m.: Class presented to the Session of The Brick Church Saturday, April 27, 1pm. - 4 p.m.: Youth Sunday Rehearsal Sunday, April 28, 11 a.m.:  Youth Sunday – You lead in Worship! Sunday, May 5, 11 a.m.: Confirmation Sunday; 12:30 p.m. Reception
