Youth Summer Trip: The Montreat Youth Conference
July 22-28, 2012
This summer, Brick Church high school youth, including rising ninth graders, will be heading to North Carolina for a youth conference at the Montreat Conference Center. The Brick Church youth and Rev. Adam Gorman will be joining Rev. Erin Keys and some of the youth from First Presbyterian Church of Greenwich.

At the conference, young people from all over the country will gather for a week of wonder, worship and recreation. This year's theme is "Perfectly Imperfect" and will focus on the God who accepts us just as we are. Through speaker sessions, small discussion groups, recreational activities and evening worship, youth will be inspired and challenged to affirm and deepen their sense of Christian identity.

The cost of the trip will be $550 per person which will cover our transportation (by chartered bus! There will be plenty of movies games, candy & music), meals and accomodations. As is always the case, cost should not be prohibitive for anyone.

If you have any questions or would like to sign up, contact Rev. Adam Gorman.

Learn more about the 2012 Youth Conferences at Montreat or read about the speakers and worship and recreation leaders at the July 22-28 Conference week.
Service Opportunities

Students in ninth through 12th grades at The Brick Church have many opportunities to serve others and God in New York City.

Serve people, serve God, serve food: ninth through 12th grade students cook dinner with the Friday Night Dinner Program on the first and third Fridays of each month. Bring your friends to this worthwhile (and amazingly fun) Friday night project. For more information or to volunteer, click here.

Lead the congregation in worship: 9th through 12th grade students lead in Sunday 11 a.m. worship services as part of the Order of St. Paul. Students can also serve as Scripture readers in the service. Contact Lena Tharp to volunteer to read.

Children’s ministry: High school students assist with Sunday morning Church School classes for age 3 through 5th grade. Contact Rev. Adam Gorman to sign up as a Sunday School assistant for the 2011-2012 School year.

Middle school mentors: Students in 10th grade and older can assist with the middle school programs, Pioneers and Seventh/Eighth Grade Youth Group as mentors and game leaders. Contact Rev. Adam Gorman to sign up as a middle school mentor.

Community service hours: Students seeking community service may contact Rev. Adam Gorman for ideas about where to get involved.

High School Fellowship

High school students gather for occasional fellowship events, such as dinners, brunches after church, Confirmation class reunions and outings in NYC. Watch your inbox for invitations. This year, we're meeting every Sunday for Pizza Lunch in the BEANBAG (the youth space on the stage of Watson Hall). Meet your classmates and other youth grades 7 through 12 after church during coffee hour, then head to the third floor for Teen Choir with Amanda Smith from 1 p.m. to1:30 p.m.  Here's what's new and exciting this year:

All-Youth Ski Trip: Youth 5th through 12th grades are invited to hit the slopes for a day of fun and fellowship. Learn more or sign up by January 31.

Youth Coffee Hour: Older youth meet each week in the BEANBAG (on the stage in Watson Hall), for pizza and fellowship.

Students away at school: If you have a student who is away at boarding school or college, you are invited to enroll him or her in the Church Mouse Program.  This program pairs up Brick members and students for ongoing fellowship away from home. Students receive notes and care packages to help them feel cared for by The Brick Church. Email Beth Bean to register.
