The Children's Storefront Volunteer Program

The Women's Association of Brick Church advances the work of God by our involvement in a volunteer classroom assistant program at The Children's Storefront.

The Children's Storefront at East 129th Street, is an independent co-educational school for pre-K through eighth grade. The tuition is entirely funded by the school. There are 170 students and more than 90 percent go on to graduate from high school. It is the school's belief that all children deserve an excellent education, regardless of their family's income, and the school attempts to maintain a board mix of children from the Harlem neighborhood. The faculty promotes a rigorous academic environment as well as tolerance and an ability to set and reach goals.

The Women's Association involvement is as classroom assistants, one day a week in pre-K through second grade classes. Working in teams of four, each volunteer is asked to give one morning per month. There are typically three or four teams going to the school on the same morning each week.

For more information regarding this wonderful program, please email the Women's Association office or, to volunteer,  complete the interest form.
