Senior High Youth Fellowship

High school students experience fun, fellowship and service at The Brick Church!

Fellowship
High school students gather for occasional fellowship events, such as dinners, brunches after church, and outings in NYC.

  • Fall Kickoff!
    Sunday, September 14, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The all–youth Brick Church Decathlon and Barbecue will be held in Watson Hall and the Garden. High school students are invited as participants and as leaders to help coordinate the multiple events. Don’t miss this huge kick–off of the season! Contact Christy Lang with questions.

  • Ninth Grade Reunion
    Friday, September 26, 5:00 p.m. -7:45 p.m.
Last year’s Confirmation class is invited to return to the church for a special Friday Night Dinner Program hosted by the Deacons. We will prepare dinner in the Watson Hall Kitchen and then explore proposed spaces in the church to be designated for our older youth. Contact Christy Lang with questions.

  • Ski Trip to the Poconos
Every year, students from The Brick Church join with students from other Upper East Side churches ski on the slopes of Camelback Mountain. This year’s trip is scheduled for Saturday, February 28.

  • Six Flags Trip
In the spring, we take an all–youth trip to Six Flags for a day of wild fun. 2009 date TBA.

  • New outreach workers
The Brick Church welcomes Hannah Flora and Katy Moore as youth outreach workers. Expect to see Hannah and Katy at events and to hear from them on the phone. We will soon hire a male outreach worker as well.

  • Coming Soon
A regular meeting time for high school youth, Bible studies for high school students, and a newly dedicated youth space decorated by the youth of Brick Church!

  • Students Away at School
If you have a student who is away at boarding school or college, you are invited to enroll him or her in the Church Mouse Program. This program pairs up Brick members and students for ongoing fellowship away from home. Students receive notes and care packages to help them feel cared for by The Brick Church. Contact Chris Curtin-Barnes to register.
Service
Students in ninth through 12th grades at The Brick Church have many opportunities to serve others and God in New York City.
  • Serve People, Serve God, Serve Food
Students cook dinner at the Friday Night Dinner Program on the first and third Fridays of each month. Bring your friends to this worthwhile (and amazingly fun) Friday night project. Contact Georgia Meeter to volunteer.

  • Lead the Congregation in Worship
Students lead in Sunday 11:00 a.m. worship services as part of the Order of St. Paul and can also serve as Scripture readers in the service. Contact Thea Luria to volunteer to read.

  • Travel with a Mission
Students who have graduated from eighth through 12th grades are invited to join in the Youth Mission Trip, on which we travel together to serve people in need and to grow in our friendships with each other and with God. Contact Christy Lang with questions.

  • ChildrenŐs Ministry
High school students assist with Sunday Church School classes for age 3 through fifth grade. Contact Georgia Meeter to sign up to be a Sunday School assistant.

  • Middle School Mentors
Students in 10th grade and older can assist with the middle school programs, Pioneers and Seventh Grade Youth Group as mentors and game leaders. Contact Rev. Christy Lang to sign up as a middle school mentor.

  • Deacon Outreach Christmas Party
Each year, the Deacons host a big Christmas party for the Women’s Prison Association to help the families of women who have been released from incarceration. High school students can assist with this party by manning stations, setting up, accompanying small children as they shop for presents for their parents, and cleaning up.
  • Day of Discipleship
Come get your hands dirty! The whole Brick Church congregation is invited to connect to the mission partners of the church in this one-day opportunity. Students can register to attend as participants. Day of Discipleship activities include repair of building, painting and cleaning, crafts with elderly neighbors, gardening and making lunches for participants.

  • Community Service Hours
Students seeking community service may contact the Rev. Christy Lang or Georgia Meeter for ideas about where to get involved.
