Brian Ballard Sabbath as a Disorienting Grace: The Practice and Reception of a Weekly Sabbath

December 9, 2018 @ 9:45 am - 10:45 am EST

God’s big question to humanity in the Sabbath is: who are you? How do you determine your worth, priorities, and what it means to be fulfilled? The Sabbath is a concept as old as creation itself, having been observed by God as the culmination of creation in Genesis. Yet, whether in ancient Egypt, or in the time of Jesus, or in 21st century NYC, it has persisted as a difficult command to keep. In this talk, Brian will discuss the ancient roots of the Sabbath and trace them to our present day. Interwoven within will be stories that expand on what it costs to be a Sabbath people. Brian is in his final year at Princeton Theological Seminary.
