Johannes Brahms set these words from Psalm 51 in 1860. Deeply emotional and intensely private, Brahms often felt pessimistic about the world around him, yet his choral music leaves us with messages of comfort, consolation, and joy. The Chancel Choir will sing Brahms’ Schaffe in mir, Gott, Op. 29, No. 2 and Geistliches Lied, Op. 30, offering us a message of radiant beauty in this season of Lent.
