Cloud of the Impossible: Reflections on an Old and New Mysticism
May 1, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 10:45 am EDT

How might a little known tradition of Christian mysticism help us face internal contradictions, ugly politics, climate change, doubts about “God”? A phrase from Nicholas of Cusa (15th century), “the cloud of the impossible” will point us, paradoxically, to an embodied cosmic relationality in which theological contemplation opens a fresh relation to science, gender, and the precarious entanglements of planetary life. Professor Catherine Keller discusses this topic in this session. She is Professor of Constructive Theology at Drew University’s Theological School. Her most recent book is Cloud of the Impossible: Negative Theology and Planetary Entanglement.
