April 9 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm EDT
Church of the Living Hope will be hosting the third of several prayer services with other churches in the neighborhood on Tuesday, April 9 at 6:30 p.m. at 161 East 104th Street (north side between Lexington and Third Avenues). The first two services were hosted by The Brick Church in November, and St Francis de Sales in January, respectively. This ecumenical service will be a Lectio Divina, a very old and meditative way of prayer over scripture, during which a passage is read several times and participants sit in quiet meditation, listening for the word in the scripture that calls out them.
The format follows several specific steps (PC[U.S.A.]): Lectio: Listening to the Word of God, Meditatio: Reflecting on the Word of God, Oratio: Responding to the Word of God and Contemplatio: Resting in the Word of God. We will end our service with a last step Actio: Having received God’s love and grace, we go forth to serve others out of the love we have been given. All are welcome to join in this service; if you would more information please contact Deacon Helen Elmiger at firstname.lastname@example.org or 212-289-7079.
