The Blessing of the Animals

The first responsibility our Creator gave us was to care for God’s creation, particularly ‘every living thing that moves upon the earth.’ (Genesis 1.28) Francis of Assisi lived out that understanding through his love for animals. In recognition of his caregiving, churches worldwide participate in a blessing of the animals on or around his feast day. Here at Brick Church, we will bless the animals on Tuesday, October 4th, from 5:30 to 6:15 PM on the Park Avenue steps leading to our sanctuary. We welcome our church family, neighborhood friends, and all passersby to join us.
