The Liberation Theology of Gustavo Gutiérrez

April 3, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 10:45 am EDT

This talk by Dr. Mark Taylor is entitled The Liberation Theology of Gustavo Gutiérrez. Gutiérrez, a theologian and Roman Catholic priest, is regarded as one of the founders of liberation theology. Gutiérrez spent many years living and working with the poor in Lima, Peru, and views poverty as a theological issue, not merely a social one. In his writings, Gutiérrez has used Christian teachings and symbols to give voice to the experience of the oppressed. Dr. Taylor is the Maxwell M. Upson Professor of Theology and Culture at Princeton Theological Seminary.
