This year, Brick Church Deacons we will host their 31st annual Deacons’ Christmas Party for the families of the Stanley Isaacs Neighborhood Center, a non-profit that focuses on needs of children and low-income families. The party includes crafts and games, music, lunch, and a visit from Santa! This is a wonderful and rewarding opportunity for us to make a difference to these children and low-income families by providing gifts that they are unable to afford and to spread joy and cheer during this Christmas season! We need your help to make the party a success! Below are two ways you can contribute:
1. Gift Donations: As a part of our party, we set up “malls” where both children and parents can choose gifts for each other to have under the tree on Christmas morning. We fill our malls with donations from organizations and members of the Brick Church Community. You can drop off your donation at the Parish House in the Garden Room. Gift ideas include new gifts for girls and boys ages 6 to 11, (including toys, arts and craft sets, Legos and sporting goods items) as well as gifts for their parents or adult guardians (housewares, personal care items, hats/scarves/gloves, and home decor etc.). The children delight in selecting special gifts for their parents as much as the parents enjoy choosing gifts for their children! Gift cards to accessible stores such as Old Navy, Target, Bed, Bath & Beyond and Modell’s are always a big hit. Other ideas include movie ticket gift cards and Stream gift cards.
Gifts can be dropped off (unwrapped) at the Deacons’ Christmas Party box in the Garden Room of the Parish House now until the eve of the event, Dec. 13. A Wish List is also set up on Amazon.com for those who want to shop from home. You can access it by clicking here or in the search box type in “Wish List”, then go to “Find a List” and type in “Brick Church Deacon’s Christmas Party” and have your donation sent right to The Brick Church. For donation information or questions about the Amazon list, please contact Cathy Leonhardt.
2. Volunteer: We also need many volunteers to help make this event happen. We will need help for the setup and decorating of Watson Hall on Friday, Dec. 13 and/or for the party on Saturday, Dec. 14. On Saturday, we need volunteers to help run the kitchen, assist with arts and crafts, sports activities and help the families as they “shop” at the shopping malls. Sign up for a time slot here. Contact Deacon Paige Rustum if you have questions or need more information.
