Chancel Choir

Our Chancel Choir consists of New York City’s finest professional choristers (see bios of the choristers here). This choir sings at our principal worship services. In addition, the choir presents several choral concerts each season along with the Candlelight Carol Service and the Good Friday presentation of Sir John Stainer’s The Crucifixion. In addition to the professional choristers, the choir includes several volunteer choristers who have extensive chamber chorus experience. Our repertoire spans from early music to the recently composed, all in the classical sacred tradition. Participation in this choir is very demanding and requires fine sight-reading, pitch matching, and voice blending skills. Due to limited space in the choir stalls, there are no positions open in the choir at this time for either professional or volunteer choristers. Anyone interested in auditioning for future consideration in the Chancel Choir should contact Minister of Music Keith S. Tóth for further information.

The Chancel Choir sings from the Sunday following Labor Day until the Sunday before Memorial Day weekend. From Memorial Day weekend through July, a quartet from the Chancel Choir provides the choral music during the Sunday service. During August and through Labor Day weekend, a soloist provides special vocal music during the service.
