Not a day goes by that the news is not filled with information about AI--some positive, but lately more negative. We ask, what should we think and do in light of the acceleration of the new and far-reaching capabilities of AI? Our discussion will center not on the technological possibilities of this amazing tool, but rather what are the meta questions, the deeper theological issues, such as: how does AI effect human flourishing; what is unique to humans vs. machines; is God being replaced by false gods; what is our role as Christians to redeem both AI’s creators and workers to forefront ethical principles and benefit all people over profit motives and expansive development without taking into account the long term consequences. In other words, not eliminating AI, but finding ways for it to be a positive tool for human enrichment.
