C. Hubert H. Parry drew on texts from Job, Isaiah, and the Psalms to create his extraordinary anthem, Hear My Words, Ye People. Written on a vast scale, it features grand statements for the chorus, a majestic bass solo, and a brilliant organ accompaniment that sets the scene for each section. The ending, with the words “O praise ye the Lord,” has become a well-known hymn tune.
