About the event
Join us for Sunday morning worship on February 8 as we welcome guest preacher Rev. Dr. Darrell Armstrong. He will share a sermon titled “God’s Call to Build the Beloved Community,” reflecting on Psalm 133:1.
The Rev. Dr. Darrell Armstrong has served as Senior Pastor of the historic Shiloh Baptist Church in Trenton, New Jersey since 2000, becoming only the third pastor in the congregation’s more than century-long history. He is deeply committed to advocating for issues of justice, equity, diversity, inclusion, and access. Based on his early educational experiences of integrating public schools in Los Angeles, CA and his early childhood experiences of foster and kinship care through the Los Angeles County Welfare System, he has cultivated a deep conviction to strengthen marginalized communities around the country and around the world. Rev. Dr. Armstrong received a B.A. from Stanford University, an M.Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary, on which he served on the Board of Trustees, and an Ed.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy from The College of New Jersey. His ministry has been working at the intersection of pastoral ministry, family health, and community care, as well as serving in government and local agencies and envisioning a Family Life Center, a challenging neighborhood in Trenton, NJ. He has worked on consulting and speaking internationally, especially in Liberia, to address educational and societal needs. Shaped by his own early experiences in foster and kinship care, he is a nationally respected voice on strengthening families and nurturing resilient communities, and the proud father of two children. He is the former Director/Assistant Commissioner of NJ's Division of Child Abuse Prevention and Community Partnerships and the former Chief Administrative Officer to the United Nations for the Baptist World Alliance. Lastly, he has served as an advisor to and/or active board member of some of the nation’s largest and most effective child and family serving organizations.
