Michael Musgrave teaches music history at the Juilliard School. His first studies were as an organist and pianist at the Royal College of Music in London, where his teachers included the composer Herbert Howells and organist Harold Darke. He is author and editor of six books on Brahms, including one on the German Requiem, and is joint editor of the recent critical edition of the Requiem in the Brahms Collected Works published by Henle Verlag, Munich.
