Dr. King often spoke about three vices that afflicted American democracy: apathy, cowardice, and ignorance. We will explore recent treatments of Dr. King’s thinking about democracy and citizenship, and examine what his social criticism raises for Christian witness today.
Darren Yau is a Visiting Research Fellow at Brown University and a PhD candidate in Religion at Princeton University. His research focuses on the connections between modern religious thought and political philosophy. He is currently completing a dissertation on Martin Luther King Jr.'s political ethics.
